Job Description

Overview

 

A Junior Medical Technologist in Sleep Lab is responsible for delivery of patients service in the work area in a personalised, specialised and cost-effective way in accordance to established hospital policies, procedures and standard of practices.

 

A Junior Medical Technologist in Sleep Lab also provides laboratory support for all clinical cases that require lung function tests and sleep monitoring studies

 

Job Responsibilities

 

You will be responsible for the following:

 

  • To co-operate with doctors and other health-care providers in smooth delivery of services to patients.
  • To demonstrate basic skills and knowledge in the delivery of services to patients.
  • To schedule patients appointment/admission for Sleep Monitoring Studies.
  • To actualize patient’s admission and perform a “discharge” in SAP before and after Sleep Monitoring Studies accordingly.
  • To check and calibrate equipment/ emergency trolley and instruments to ensure that they are in good working condition.
  • To perform Monitoring Studies as requested Respiratory Physician according to hospital standards of operation.
  • To provide appropriate instructions to patient for follow-up review at Specialist Clinic.
  • To provide patient / family members on information regarding Sleep Monitoring Studies.
  • To edit the data generated from the studies into computer and do reporting of results for doctor to verify.
  • To ensure reports are ready for despatch to clinics/wards within stipulated time frame.
  • To be responsible for proper filing of patients’ reports for easy retrieval.
  • To educate and demonstrate to patient / family members on the use of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP).
  • To assist patients in the loan of CPAP and follow-up with the arrangement of the purchase with supplier.
  • To demonstrate proper and economical usage of consumables and supplies.
  • To ensure that stock level on supplies and consumables are adequately maintained and replenished.
  • To maintain and demonstrate proper use and care of equipment.
  • To maintain a clean and safe work environment. 
  • To attend to patients’ feedback /enquiry, perform service recovery and provide information when appropriate.
  • To attend to telephone enquiries / calls and trace results when requested.
  • To participate in service quality activities / program.
  • To assume additional responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor(s).
