Job Description

An Optometrist is responsible to provide personalised, specialised and cost-effective care to the patients in accordance to established hospital policies and procedures, standards of Optometrist care and practices.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities and Duties (80%)

To conduct subjective and objective refractions.

To conduct cyclorefractions.

To prescribe glasses and contact lens.

To dispense contact lens.

To be able to use special equipments for diagnosis and testing of vision: Visual field, Orbscan, AS-OCT, PS-OCT, Wasca etc.

To provide patient education of health, safety and infection control.

Secondary Responsibilities and Duties (20%): Specialist service

To prescribe and manage low vision.

To conduct paediatric vision assessment.

To manage and run occuloplastic prosthetic clinic.

To conduct basic Orthoptic assessment.

To conduct pre and post Lasik assessment and assist during Lasik operations.
